The annual Morton Marcus Poetry Contest is held in honor of the memory and work of Morton Marcus, whose life and work inspired us all, through his infectious belief in community, dedication to the work, and support of the arts. Submissions for the 2017 contest are now CLOSED. The 2018 contest will open on March 15, 2018 and close on September 1, 2018.

2017 POETRY CONTEST SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The Annual Morton Marcus Poetry Contest is now open and closes on September 1.

Prize: $1,000

Entry Fee: $15

The contest is open to ALL poets over the age of 18 living anywhere.

You may submit one original poem of up to two pages.

The 2017 contest judge is Ellen Bass.

The winner will be selected by October 1 and notified by November 1. The winner will be invited to read the winning poem at the Annual Morton Marcus Poetry Reading held in November.

Please submit your work online only through Submittable.com, as HARD COPY SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
