  • Artist Laureate – Arts Council Silicon Valley – 2012 - Elizabeth won the 2012 Off Stage Artist Laureate Award presented by the Arts Council Silicon Valley.
  • Gail Rich Award - 2012 - Elizabeth was the only writer to win the Gail Rich Award in 2012. WATCH a video of Elizabeth reading at the awards ceremony.
  • Judge of the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing - Elizabeth was the judge for the 2012 and 2010 William Saroyan International Prize for Writing through Stanford University.
  • Atlantic Monthly's Fiction 2011 - Elizabeth's short story "Someone I'd Like You to Meet" was selected for Atlantic Monthly's Fiction 2011. READ the story here.
  • Center for Cultural Innovations - Elizabeth receives the Center for Cultural Innovation's Investing in Artists Grant.
  • Creative Artist Program – 2010 - The Japan U.S. Friendship Commission offers leading contemporary and traditional artists from the United States the opportunity to spend three months in Japan through the U.S./Japan Creative Artists Program. Cultural understanding is at the heart of this program. Artists go as seekers, as cultural visionaries, and as living liaisons to the traditional and contemporary cultural life of Japan. They also go as connectors who share knowledge and bring back knowledge. Their interaction with the Japanese public and the outlook they bring home provide exceptional opportunities to promote cultural understanding between the United States and Japan.
  • San Francisco Chronicle Best Book of 2007 (MacGregor Tells the World) - Elizabeth was selected as one of the Best Books of 2007 for MacGregor Tells the World."
  • Best Book of 2007 – School Library Journal (MacGregor Tells the World) - Elizabeth finished in the top 10 for the Best Book of 2007 for MacGregor Tells the World."
  • Story Prize Short List - (Stop that Girl) - In 2005, Elizabeth's novel, Stop that Girl, was short-listed for the Story Prize.
  • Best American Nonrequired Reading 2002 (Dave Eggers Editor) - Elizabeth's short story "Stop that Girl" was selected by Dave Eggers for the 2012 Best American Nonrequired reading.
  • Pushcart Prize Anthology - Won the Pushcart Prize and was published in the anthology for "The Possible World" in 2001.
