Love Letters Project Logo

Nine Santa Cruz authors participated in The Love Letters Project on Saturday, February 11th, held at The Musuem of Art and History (MAH), Bookshop Santa Cruz, and Felix Kulpa Gallery. Each writer was asked to contribute a poem or letter they had written for someone or something they love. The poems and letters written by Elizabeth McKenzie at The Love Letters Project follow her contribution.

Love Letter

How much do you know.
At least tell me that.
Plenty more now than when this began.
Please don’t hold it against me.
You always said we had to find out.

Variety is the spice of life.
Apples are only good for awhile.
Let me take you to a place where moss grows on a shelf by the sea.
Eagles nest there.
Northerlies keep it clean.
Tomorrow, if we go, I’ll show you more than oceans.
I’ll show you the place where we met.
Not the state, not the city, not the bench.
Expect to see something you might not recognize.
Suppose you can’t even see it.

Don’t worry.
Apples will taste good there.
You will too.
